I’ve always gone through life with at appreciation for all things “weird” or out of the ordinary. As a result, I tend to have a very unique style. I recently dyed my hair a very vibrant purple, and while I have been met with many compliments from friends and strangers alike, I’ve also gotten the expected eye-roll or “I can’t believe your mother let you do that,” from both family and people I don’t know. My first thought when met with negativity is generally Why do you care how I present myself? and more importantly, Why should I care about your opinion of my appearance?

I, luckily, tend to have that response quite a bit when met with judgement based on my appearance, and I encourage you to do the same. Don’t waste your time making sure others approve of how you look, if you’re happy with it then do it. Try that edgy haircut, Wear neon eye-shadow or blue lipstick (or both, both is awesome too). Dye your hair wild colors. Just do it. You’ll be so happy to have tried something new, and if you don’t like it, your hair will grow, makeup washes off, and your hair can just as easily be dyed a different color. The point is, the more you express your true self, the more you’ll attract people who love and accept you as you really are.

The point  is, have fun with your style and how you express it and try not to worry about whether other like it or not. I, for one, am glad that not everyone has the same style. How boring would the world be if everyone had brown hair and neutral eye-shadow with a pink pout?*

That’s a wrap for now,  I hope you’ve enjoyed my first official blog post. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you liked (or didn’t) and maybe some ideas of what you’d like to see next.

Uniquely yours,

Brandi

*not to say, if that’s your thing, that you shouldn’t rock it. But wouldn’t it be boring if everyone did?image
